2008 MCCFP Leadership Retreat Brochure

Independent Studyne morning an old man was walking along the beach and discovered that, in the distance, he could see what looked like a person dancing along the shore. Curious, the old man walked in the direction of the dancing silhouette. As he got closer, he noticed that the image that so intrigued him was not another person dancing, but a young man carefully, one by one, picking up starfish and throwing them back into the ocean just beyond the breakers.

The old man walked up to the younger man and said, "How long have you been throwing these starfish back into the ocean?" The young man replied, "I come out here and do this every morning. If I did not, the sun would dry out these starfish, and they would die." "Young man," the old man said, "there are thousands of starfish all along this beach, and the beach runs for miles.

You cannot possibly save them all. You will never make a difference." With that, the young man smiled slightly, grabbed a starfish in his hands, and threw it far beyond the waves. "It makes a difference to that one," he said.

MCCFP Leadership Retreat will be held July, 2008 at Lake Tiak O'Khata Resort.
